Black Mountain Contracting participates in the Atlantic Immigration Program, a federal immigration pathway that allows eligible foreign workers to obtain Canadian permanent residence with the support of a designated Atlantic employer.

Atlantic Immigration Program — Employee Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for employment and permanent residence support through AIP, candidates must meet federal eligibility requirements:

    Valid Job Offer

  • A full-time (minimum 30 hours per week), non-seasonal job offer
  • Issued by an Atlantic Immigration Program–designated employer (Black Mountain Contracting)
  • Job offer must:
    • Match the candidate's skills and experience
    • Be for at least 1 year or permanent, depending on occupation classification

    Work Experience

  • Minimum 1 year (1,560 hours) of paid, relevant work experience within the last 5 years
  • Experience may be gained inside or outside Canada
  • Work experience must be related to construction or the offered position

    Education

  • Minimum education depends on the job’s NOC/TEER classification
  • Most construction and labour roles require:
    • High school diploma, trade training, or equivalent experience
  • If education was completed outside Canada, an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) may be required

    Language Proficiency

    Candidates must demonstrate basic English or French language ability using an approved test:

  • CLB/NCLC 4 or 5, depending on the role
  • Accepted tests include IELTS, CELPIP, or TEF Canada
  • Language test results must be valid (less than 2 years old) at the time of application

    Proof of Settlement Funds

  • Applicants must show sufficient funds to support themselves and accompanying family members upon arrival in Canada
  • This requirement may be waived for candidates already working in Canada with a valid work permit

    Intent to Live in Atlantic Canada

  • Candidates must demonstrate a genuine intention to live and work in New Brunswick on a long-term basis
